Some reflection
Memories about this social comic experiment.
WRITINGSOCIAL MEDIA

Wow, eleven years ago!
Such a long time—and gone in a flash, just like the cliché. But hey, clichés exist because some things really do seem to happen without end. Anyway...
This was a call to arms for comic book writers. The framework was simple: free labor in exchange for building a team and seeing publication. Participants connected through a Facebook page. Writers would post scripts, the editor (who also originated the project) would approve them, and interested artists would sign on. It worked fairly well—two volumes made it to publication. Unfortunately, at least eight were started.
I contributed several stories across the proposed volumes:
A sequel to my volume one story entitled, The Return of the Eye of Mumbouli
A horror tale featuring gremlins and steampunk robots
A magnetic superhero
And a grindhouse-style slasher I was especially proud of—the script was tight, and the art was a perfect match.
Sadly, sales didn’t hold up, and the project was canceled. Still, it was fun. I learned a lot about collaborating with artists and editors, and sharpened some skills along the way. Ahhh. Fun times.
